“We all have the capacity to be a superhero. In order to become one, you just have to find your unique power or ability and exploit it for the greater good. The cape and mask are optional – but a kind heart is essential.” - Robert Clancy, writer
The GENYOUth team is in full planning mode for our third annual Gala, which will take place this year on Tuesday, November 27th. The theme, “Honoring America’s Everyday Superheroes: Those Who Dream It, Dare It, Do It!" recognizes that each of us has the potential to be a superhero for youth health, wellness, and future-readiness.
The work we do at GENYOUth counts on a tremendous network of partners and supporters who are the superheroes with the courage to improve health and wellness in our nation’s schools and communities!
At each year’s Gala, GENYOUth’s Vanguard Award is presented to “the organization or individual whose commitment, passion, and support enable us to empower even more students to be change agents for health, wellness, and academic achievement." This year, the award goes to PepsiCo -- and will be accepted by Albert P. Carey, CEO of PepsiCo North America.
PepsiCo has been a steadfast supporter of GENYOUth since its inception. The company’s commitment to global initiatives of critical importance – in particular its efforts to improve the products it sells, protect our planet, and empower people around the world to contribute solutions to shared challenges – have been important factors in our growing partnership.
Al Carey's leadership and commitment to childhood health and hunger, and the inspiration he offers to his teammates within PepsiCo and in the community at large, are why GENYOUth is extending this honor. We’re touched that Al will join us as PepsiCo's champion for childhood health and hunger, and for helping inspire others through our enduring and expanding partnership.
