Thomas P. Gallagher has led Dairy Management Inc.™ (DMI) as its Chief Executive Office since January 1, 1995. DMI is the dairy farmer-funded organization that manages the National Dairy Council®(NDC), the American Dairy Association® and the U.S. Dairy Export Council®.
NDC is the nutrition research, education and communication arm of DMI. NDC provides science-based nutrition information to, and in collaboration with, a variety of stakeholders committed to fostering a healthier society, including health professionals, educators, school nutrition directors, academia, industry, consumers and media.
In his role overseeing NDC, Tom has been able to directly impact child nutrition, health and wellness – an issue of profound personal importance to him.
Established in 1915, NDC has always played a significant role in improving the health of America’s children in schools. By activating this legacy of credibility and impact in schools, one of the key battlegrounds in fighting childhood obesity, Tom and his staff have developed programs that directly address the growing public health crisis of childhood obesity where the greatest difference can be made.
Before taking the helm at DMI, Tom served as CEO of the United Dairy Industry Association from November, 1991 to January, 1995. Prior to his leadership positions in dairy, he was Senior Vice President, Administration and Finance, for the United States League of Savings Institutions.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in political science and a Master of Science degree in public administration, both from DePaul University. He has two children, coaches his son’s basketball team and is dedicated to physical fitness. He is an avid reader and sports fan.
